Hip Hip Hurrah!
Seems the only appropriate term to describe the joy i feel writing my first blog. It’s as though I’ve been waiting decades for the website to be finished. To finally be set free into the internet world. I’m completely head over heels for my website (thanks to my hubby Shannon at August Elements for making this a reality). So let’s see, where to start. There are oodles of ways I could introduce myself. I suppose an appropriate introduction could be the story behind the “childhood delight for twirling”, so here it is.
When I was a young girl we lived next door to a beautiful old farm house with lovely green pastures surrounding it. I used to dress up and pretend to be Anne of Green Gables. I would hoist myself in my long skirts over the fence, close my eyes, and sing and dance and spin and twirl until I was dizzy. I found such joy in my imagination and in the simple act of twirling. Those that are close to me have regarded this memory as a key ingredient to who I’ve become today. I guess you can say my imagination and love for whimsicality have manifested themselves into my custom pinwheels. I’m hoping to inspire imagination and creativity in my son as he learns and grows. Though it will likely be manifest in dirt and bugs and daredevil stunts.
To whimsicality and little boys,

Your first blog is very well written but you left out little girls, which is where your gift for twirling began – in the little girl in you
Maureen, you are correct in that I failed to mention little girls, shame on me.
I was indeed thinking of my sweet Max at the time I wrote the post. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.
